Many of us have outlets that serve as our punching bag during times of stress or when something lets us down. I’ve usually gone to the movies a time or two, tinkered with electronics, worked out in the gym and even ate large quantities of ice cream. But here’s something I learned: these outlets serve nothing more than suppressants of the things that are bothering you.
When I work out to remove myself from the present pickle I am in, the problem is still there when I am done with my thing. It’s kind of like a drug, you see. You get a high for a brief moment in which you forget about everything then everything comes crashing down when the effect is gone.
