Do you have enough margin in your life?
Margin is defined as a spare amount created for contingencies or special situations. In my mind, it is a safety or buffer zone between you and disaster.
If you live life too close to the edge, then you are bound to fall once in awhile. You just can’t control every external factor. When you lack margin, the slightest breeze can be enough to push you off the tightrope you’re walking.
On the other hand, when you’ve created margin, you have some room. That’s why there is a shoulder alongside the highway. It is there to give drivers some margin of error before they run off the road.
